Syrex Celebrates Mandela Day 2023 with Animal Shelter and Children’s Home support

This year for Mandela Day, Syrex has expanded its reach to reflect the broad and inclusive spirit of Nelson Mandela, by supporting not only the Friends of Rescued Animals (FORA) but also Hearts of Hope, a safe haven for vulnerable children. Syrex and its staff members donated food, blankets, toys, and essential cleaning materials, demonstrating their commitment to uplifting their community.

FORA, a shelter based in Krugersdorp, provides a sanctuary for hundreds of dogs, cats, and even pigs and goats. Upholding a pro-life policy, FORA is committed to the principles of rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome. A donation of food, toys, and blankets was warmly received by the joyful dogs and caring staff at the shelter on Saturday, 15th July. Syrex team members spent quality time with the animals, playing fetch and indulging in puppy cuddles, a testament to the incredible work and dedication of the FORA team towards unwanted animals.

On 18 July, the Syrex team visited Hearts of Hope. This home for vulnerable children aims to provide not just shelter, but a nurturing family environment until each child can find their own forever home. Groceries, nappies, baby formula, and cleaning materials were gratefully received by the dedicated team at Hearts of Hope, who tirelessly work to ensure the children are cared for and loved.

One team member, a mother herself, expressed deep gratitude for the staff at Hearts of Hope, stating, “They provide love and care for these little souls who, without them, would have nothing.”

In the spirit of Mandela Day, Syrex upholds the ethos of Nelson Mandela, who once said, “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.” Syrex is proud to do its part in making a difference in the lives of both animals and children, reflecting the care and compassion that underpins Mandela Day.
